Hi All,

Got a hyper-v question for you. I have a server at I use for training on
operating systems, etc. Recently I can have installed Hyper-V Core onto
this server without issue and works well....however when I install Microsoft
Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise and try to enable the Hyper-V role it
gives me the message: "Hyper-V cannot be installed. The processor on this
computer is not compatible with Hyper-V. To install this role, the
processor must have a supported version of hardware-assisted virtualization,
and that feature must be turned on in the BIOS".

I find this odd that the Hyper-V Core can be installed on this server but
not as a feature under Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit.

I have checked the BIOS and cant see anything regarding vanderpool
technology or virtualisation.

System Details:

ASUS NCLV-DS2 Server

Model ID: 8008A0

BIOS 1002 20/04/2006

CPUs (x2): Intel Xeon CPU 3.00GHz (Hyper Threading Technology Enabled)

RAM: 6144MB DDR2 400

You're not trying to run Windows Server 2008 R2 in a VM are you? VM's
don't have access to VT.

Assuming we are dealing with Xeon with VT,
check bios version

Hi un1c0rn,

Did you ever get the Hyper-V role installed under Windows Server 2008 R2 with CPUs missing VT support?
